Finally got the s10 axle with 3.42 gears and factory locker installed over the weekend.

It is currently lowered with 3 inch blocks, but I forgot to install the 2 degree shim. Now my pinion is sitting sitting at 13 degrees up and the trans is 3 degrees down. Will the 2 degree shim be enough to bring the pinion down to where it should be?
I also need to find or make shackles for the leaf springs that relocate the leaf about an inch outward so I don't destroy bushings. Does anyone know of somewhere that I can find these?

The toyota was 55 inches and the s10 is 54.5 inches.

Google “offset shackles”. Lots of aftermarket shops sell universal and custom made.

Fred, I've been looking online for some, but most of them are outside my current budget.

Jettas, downsides are that you will need adapters to go from 5x4.75 to 5x4.5 and the leaf spring being kicked out in the rear. But if you are 4 linked, that wind be an issue. Also adapting the brake lines, but that's not hard is you know how to flare them.

Never looked into it much but i wonder if its a stronger diff than the toyota unit. Or if there are more options for replacement axles after shortening

Why would you need to shorten it?

Tuck the wheels a little more, run wider wheels with more offset
