any ideas for the discontinued rubber shifter boot? bought a mr gasket round one and it split in 60 days. for my 83 toyota sr5 2wd.
as far as I know this is your only luck to find a o.g. boot but i knoe there must be one out there that will work
i got one from my 86 model, is it the same as what you are needing? my truck was a 4 speed, i'm swapping in a 350 with automatic transmission and don't need it.
Thanks guys!, jetas...thanks, will try the j.y., but still want a new one and I have an odd W52 trans. Bottom of shifter? yup, the one that installs over the floor opening, (not on the trans). The actual on trans rubber piece? I have purchased two squares and a round one trying lol, anybody need one for cost? or the trans shifter seat? have a few new ones lol. Dux, yup, I am on the world wide web alookin' there has got to be a simular 5 3/8" base diameter one out there, already bought a good used 2001 square boot to try for 30 bucks on ebay and it is too darn big and a double wall, anyone need this for what I payed? Barret S, thanks for the offer, if it is square and double wall like the 2001 boot (part number 58286-89104) it is too big, if it is round like the 83 (pn 58286-89107) and in good shape I would like that. Other options are waiting on responses for bottom diameter measurements from all kinds of applications
Rubber would help with the flexing of course, I have some flat neoprene but it would not make a dome for the application, the making of one could be done, just the stock material in a simular shape is the challenge. weather proof, about 5 3/8" diameter and a few inches tall, hmm, just have not found it yet. I have the leather to do an outer cover boot to r/r the original SR5 boot and will do that later. A little while ago, (truck running fine with new high quality cap, rotor, plugs, wires, card rblt, smogged etc) I replaced the fuel filter with a Napa gold (Wix) fuel filter, recently the truck kept stalling and "starving for fuel", found the filter blown out at the bottom of the actual filter element (not metal) inside the plastic housing, replaced it with a new filter and the truck still starves and dies. So, just in case it is the fuel pump, I bought a new Kyosan fuel pump and will install that today to see if it is the problem. If not? we will see. Busy with stuff to do!
What about something like this? its for the earlier trucks but might still be the same,,,,, TOYOTA HILUX RN20 RN25 PICK UP SHIFT BOOT INNER NEW | eBay
Thanks guys. I ordered one that is in between both of the ones mentioned that fits a 68-80 MGB, the dim.s are close for $8 shipped on ebay. Something to try. Also, if you change brands of fuel pumps, remember to look at the length of the fuel hose! lmao, (or just get 2' of new hose), my old lines were an inch short lol, back to the store.
