so been having an issue lately. Mechanic say check air flow meter. Swap one out no change. New spark plugs/wires not change. Spark plugs look brownished. All are firing. EGR? Injectors? My son forgot to close oil cap after oil change and oil was all over the engine. Need some advice as my mechanic is working and doing school so hard to find time to see him. I want to keep her running. All plugs are similar.

Have you done a compression test? Could be you have a blown ring. That would cause blow by and oil would definitely come out the oil fill hole.

Also, not a mechanic, just a guy with a keyboard

I haven't but after talking to my mechanic friend it looks like a new engine is best thing, but I'm not going that way.

Basic check but make sure all your injectors are spitting fuel correctly. I had that issue and injectors were my issue. new ones installed and good o go!
