A couple of years back, Toyota decided to highlight the fact that it knows how to built a sporty-looking vehicle with the a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ft-hs/"FT-HS concept/a, which mated a performance-minded hybrid powertrain with edgy, low-slung bodywork.br /br /According to emAuto Express/em in the U.K., Toyota is considering a production model based on the FT-HS concept that would revive the MR2 that was killed off in 2007. If indeed true, this new sporty hybrid would go up against Honda's expected a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/cr-z"CR-Z hybrid hatchback/a. Unlike its rival from Honda, though, the MR2 would feature rear-wheel drive, and that's something to get excited about.br /br /Other interesting tidbits include a rumored run to 60 in under seven seconds, with fuel economy in the 60's (50's in the U.S.) and carbon emissions of of under 100 g/km. Performance and efficiency in one package? Sounds a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/23/hybrids-take-priority-over-performance-for-toyota-in-the-u-s/"too good/a to be true. emThanks for the tips, everyone/em!br /br /br /div class="postgallery"pstrongGallery: a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/toyota-ft-hs-concept/"Toyota FT-HS Concept/a/strong/pa href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/toyota-ft-hs-concept/131980/"img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/toyota-ft-hs_naias---09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" //aa href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/toyota-ft-hs-concept/131979/"img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/toyota-ft-hs_naias---14_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" //aa href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/toyota-ft-hs-concept/131978/"img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/toyota-ft-hs_naias---11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" //aa href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/toyota-ft-hs-concept/131977/"img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/toyota-ft-hs_naias---02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" //aa href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/toyota-ft-hs-concept/131976/"img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/01/toyota-ft-hs_naias---15_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" //a/divbr /[Source: a href="http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/234611/mr2_set_to_return_as_prius_coup.html"Auto Express/a]p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/18/rendered-speculation-is-toyota-planning-a-hybrid-mr2-sequel-as/"Rendered Speculation: Is Toyota planning a hybrid MR2 sequel as a Honda CRZ competitor?/a originally appeared on a href="http://www.autoblog.com"Autoblog/a on Wed, 18 Mar 2009 12:26:00 EST.
