I'm trying to paint my doors and would like to remove the outer door handles to do so, but I have no idea how. I tried removing the two bolts, but cannot seem to free the assembly from the linkage down to the door latch. Any help is welcome, and sorry if you thought this was a thread on shaving your door handles, I want to put them back on.

The plastic clip that holds the rods, rotates (turns) sideways. Then you pull the rod away from the hole. If this isn't clear enough, I will go get a pic of my handles for you later tonight.

should be able to pull that rod strait out towards you....cuz that rod makes a 90 and goes in the hole. then that clip locks it into place.
