which method would be better for dropping the rear of my 88 pickup, lowering blocks or lowering springs? Which one gives a better ride quality? I heard that using blocks isnt safe because the farther the axle is from the leaf springs are the more the axle twists when accelerating or braking.

best *ideal* method would be springs. ive used blocks though and never really had issues in either sense.

blocks are cheaper and easier to do but springs dont cost that much more. just depends on how tight a budget you have.

if you want to go lower than 3 inches with a block, i will suggest using springs for those first few inches. this will lessen the amount of axle wrap. going with anything above a 3" inch block to lower the back will result in more noticeable wrap. that however also depends on how hard you drive the truck.

how low are you looking to go?

you could do drop leafs and blocks to get u a total of 5-6" closer to the ground

On my 88 when was static dropped, I used 2'' dropped springs, around $140 & 2'' angled blocks,. Rode great, but would the 3rd member would hit the bed bottom.
Notch was installed earlier than planed, problem solved!

3" blocks, pulled middle leaf, flipped lower leaf, pulled bump stomps. Never had any issues with it at all. Remember these trucks aren't pushing massive amounts of power.

Just go to a spring shop and see if they can dearch yours. Might be a little cheaper considering shiping. Thats what the oahu guys was doing. De arch them 3-4" and then throw a 3" block inside

I did just that. 3 inch block and my stock springs de arched. I was very happy with the drop. my tires tucked in the rear. I had no problems with that setup. Oh and I had air shocks too though. They limited the travel a lot cuz they were so stiff.

I was looking to go maybe 3inches in the front, but in the back i may need to go at least 5 inches because when i got my truck the back was sitting about 2 1/2 to 3 inches higher than the front.
