so i just recently welded in my roll pan, and shaved my tailgate handle, its all ready for paint and i will be doing it this week at the shop. My question is, (and i should have checked into it before i did this) but if i were to get rear ended, would my insurance cover my car? or would i get a slap in the face because i modified my truck and took off the bumper???

anyone have any info on this?

That really depends on your state/local laws & the insurance company your with too. Here in SC you dont have to have a rear bumper cause some trucks come from the factory without rear bumpers installed on them! Id call my insurance company & just ask to see. :)

After much checking this was the only specialty insurance company that would cover a Mini Truck??
No appraisal was need as of yet, insured for stated value $30,000/cost $580 per year, same coverage as my regular insurance , limited to 5,000 miles per year, must be garaged, must have a registered vehicle for all licensed drivers in the house(so your not using as a daily driver)
They have copies of all receipts & photo's of every modification, work in process, etc.
Good company, family owned ,all hot rodders, except you to drive what to have built!

if you got rearended then it would technically be the person who hit you whos insurance would pay for it (atleast in nevada it is), i personally got rearended in colorado right after my truck was shaved and painted by an older lady. i had no problem with her insurance, infact i think they cringed because when i pulled up for the estimate that it was all custom and not a regular truck. but as soon as i get my truck back on the road i am going to look into the custom insurance for it.
