figured i's start a build thread of my 4x4. its a turd so i think it can only get better. so here it is as i got it (i've already posted these in a different thread).
today i straightened out the fender so the door would open and close without pinching and so the hood would close. knocked the big dent out of the left rear of the bed, and got the passenger door handle working. i also swept (my shop vac motor burnt up as soon as i started) out the inside and cleaned it up a bit. the ugly brown seat is originally from my 86 yota... its haunting me
that's a diamond in the rough right there but hey a nice exo skeleton and u are all ready for wheeling or new cab with a nice cage
i'm leaning towards a new cab with an internal cage. but i want to take it out a few times and see if playing in the dirt is as fun as it was as a kid. if it is i'll probably leave it as is, except for that nasty rust in the bed. it was origianally sold in colorado. i'm from az and until now didn't know that rust existed
LoL, so weird, my 4x4 is SAME color, and from colorado, and i LOVE playing in the dirt, only complaint i have is engine isnt strong enough to do some hella fun donuts lol... does ok in the mud tho too bad we live in AZ where mudd is a 5x a year thing
I don't know where it could've gotten that much rust in Colorado? But man, the stories that thing could tell us!
it still has the dealer sticker on the tailgate sweetheart motors in loveland colorado. the truck has definitely seen better days
You get rust in colorado cause of the salt the put down on EVERY road when it snows lol...my truck spent 90% of its life in Colorado and the bad has damn near rusted off
well, i'm looking for a head right now. i have found a cab just need to figure out how to get it home, and i also have a 2x4 bed in my back yard i plan on using to eliminate the rust in the bed with. my wife and kids all had pnuemonias so i haven't had any garage time really.
little known fact that a cab will fit in a bed if stood on end with the doors front to back, if ya get my drift... tho i would still take it out AS IS to LEARN on the old cab/bed
thats pretty much what i had planned. the problem is my s-10 bed is bodydropped and really low. when i brought home the 2jz and tranny i had it right behind the cab and on the bumps on the highway i was dragging my rollpan at 75
