Back story: I have no knowledge of history on this truck prior to me purchasing it out of a towyard (hence the name) Purchased from a little towyard near the house then for all of $400 (local pd writing on the windshield), only plans when purchased were to use it like rental truck with all of my friends. New clutch and u-joint later (less than $100) I had a registered drivable little pickup, just in time to blow the engine in the daily driver and not have project race vehicle running either. Enter truck as daily driver for the next 1.5 years when I sell first of my 240s and buy the BMW getting better gas mileage than the truck now becoming the daily itself, also parted my race project out shortly after that. After getting to at least 4quarts of oil a week while being driven occasionally it finally turned a bearing the 22re(about a month before the last move) and has been sitting in the same spot until very recently when it got moved to a space where I can work on it. Plans I have a GM350 (5.7l) from a 71 Camaro that could pull the front tires off the ground. Also a th350 3 speed that looks like a low mileage rebuild. 3 inch lower control arms and 2 inch blocks although I think I'm just going to pull 4 of the 6 leaves (its a 1 ton) Just ordered engine mounts and powersteering adapter. Pics and more to follow.

i don't mean to be rude...but your suspension plans may be the worst idea ever for a truck with a motor that, can as you say, pull the wheels off the ground...
If it has a leaf pack as burly as you say, it may be just the ticket to keep the back end from getting crazy axle wrap. I wouldn't suggest a V8 to try and hook with less than 3-4 leafs in the pack. Good luck with it. Should be a fun project.
I drive a truck like that around town. It is pretty fun. Decent front brakes. If I wanted to I could make the sandbags in the back smash the rear window.
Ok found out my carb is a Holley 650 doublepump (list 4777-2) instead... Might be a little small for my requirements...
Torque converter bolts. Bolts to connect the trans to the engine. 14x4 offset airfilter kit to clear the HEI distributor. And a coil as soon as I can confirm what I need regarding the distributor.
