I finally got around to pulling the head on my '71 8RC. I've removed everything, but can't get it to budge. The manual says not to whack or pry on it as it sits on dowels. I'm lifting and tugging but it won't budge. Any advice would sure be appreciated! Thanks!

the 22rs have that hidden bolt up there at the cam sprocket area. Not sure about the 8rc but I'm sure you checked all that already. They tell you not to pry and bang but sometimes you gotta.Try threading in an intake or exhaust bolt and pry off that.just don't pry directly on the head also get a rubber mallet and bang on it as you pry.Good luck and keep us updated.

You nailed it! The bolt broke but I can have it tapped out at the machine shop. Thanks!

It was that hidden bugger under the cam sprocket. No mention of THAT in the manual! Should be an easy fix, though.

Taking the head into the machine shop today. I had NO compression on #2 and 4. Number 2 valves looked burned. Pistons and cylinder walls look good, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's bad seals.
