Hey all, figured it was about time i threw up a thread, for my slow paced, and extremely low budget build, so here it goes:shrug:

To make an really long story short, i rolled my previous vehicle, a toyota tercel, while with a group of toyota wheelers at a bohn fire. that was my beloved highschool kid-car. i bought it for 200 and sold for 150, quite a deal.
Anyways , being a toyota fan , i was perusing my local craigslist and came across this little hilux listed for $350. borrowed 200 from my father and went and purchased it. i ended up paying a grand total of like 380 after taxes and licencing. now i own a hilux.

The general look im going for is "pulled out of a field and lowered" (maybe some rims, if not just stock steelies with caps) , to quote standardbyker

So basically what i want to do is simple. Slam it. Drive it.
i plan on C-notching it relitivly soon, as well as cutting the front springs.
i might just throw these three inch blocks in before i C-notch it. it'll be fine:evil:

Here is how she looked when i got her, minus the stock mirrors. (note the large bias ply tires in the rear:looney:)

I finally aquired two stock steelies. in my friends junk pile.

Decided to rip out the bench she came with...:puke:

and throw in a third gen bench i got my paws on.:D:D
    [IMG]

Took out the middle leaf spring in rear, for a minor drop. i had hoped for a bit more, but it sits level-ish.. so im glad.

and thats it for now. more soon to come. hopefully.:)

    I aquired some s

I dig the truck, what a deal 380. is cheap. If I were you I would keep a look out for some cheap alloy 15x7 wheels on craigs and with the barnyard drop with a detail it would be perfect!:waytogo:

its been a while since i have done anything with the ol 78, due to past unemployment, but now that im working full time again i finally have the funds to to a bit of work to her

Today was a sadly the most productive day ive had in a while. my hood was hitting my grille so in the prosess off adjusting it back a tad a happened to break TWO hood bolts. the local hardware store has limited metric hardware so now im rolling with "hood standoffs" and im kinda diggin it.

i buffed out the paint, doesnt look much better, but its a helluva lot shiner :ROFL:

im pretty stoked for the next couple weeks. i got a set of jeep meshies (15x7s) that im going to buy some tires for and throw on. and i have a set of supra buckets coming my way!

due to a steady income, the project is off the backburner

today i picked up some used tires (185 65 15) and had them slap them on my jeep meshies. went to pick n pull and pocketed mass amounts of chrome magstlye lug nuts, and installed my rims. somehow i ended up with like 45 left over lugnuts hehehehehe:runaway:

took my newly purchased tires out for a spin to notice my "charge" light came on. had a lifetime warranty on the alt, so i replaced it (dont think i needed to but i love having a new one.) and replaced the voltage regulator (which o'riellys stocks and sells for 16 dollars to my surprise). after an hour or so of work, i had her all back to tip top battery-charging condition.

sadly most of todays efforts went into fixing the problem at hand, rather than furthering my build.... but thats what you get when you daily your project.:rolleyes2:

will take pics of her with the jeep rims tomorrow. HOPEFULLLLY before and after i drop the front. but that is depending on my work schedule.

it doesnt take that long to get the front apart and cut the coils. unless you have drop coils of some sort. but you may have to take the sway bar off after a certain point. it will hit the spring pocket. i havent trimmed mine to test fit it back on to see if the tire itself would interfer with things.

Well, if those chrome ones will fit how low you want your truck to sit on the front, I have some 14x8 cragers you could run on the back. 2" of backspace work for you? :D

Phil. Look inside the ones you have for a small star logo. I am pretty sure those are chromed mopar wheels. The flange for the center cap looks right, and the small opening has a mild point. 15X7 police wheels. Look it up. Should help the search.
