I have an 86 that came with the low budget one mirror option. I recently installed a "snugtop" type camper top with no side windows, so I need a passenger mirror.
I took off the driver door panel and looked up inside the door to see what type of bracket the mirror is mounted to, I could see a bracket but couldn't tell if it was tack welded to the skin. I also looked inside the passenger door to see if there was an existing bracket. There isn't. Does anybody know if the bracket is indeed tacked in, or does it come off? If it is removable, anybody know where I can find the mounting bracket for the passenger side as I tried searching the web and could only come up with just the outside mirror results. I could just get some self tapping screws and screw the mirror on if worse comes to worse, but I'd like it done right.
Btw, I have the small black mirror, not the one on the post, if that makes sense.

I've always drilled the holes and ran stainless screws with nyloc nuts on the backside. Sheetmetal screws will work but they'll normally start getting loose after awhile. Nylocs stay tight. :D

That's worth keeping in mind, thanks. I'm going to go to pull a part tomorrow, they have an 86 in stock. Let's hope it has something I'm looking for or need. Here in the Atlanta area, when these trucks get to the boneyard they are stripped of anything useful very quickly.

Didn't find an answer to what I was looking for. Anybody else know?

The bracket is tack welded to the door skin but you won't find one anywhere in the aftermarket.
