hey guys, i have a 1989 toyota pickup that has been sitting for over 2yrs. i am trying to get it back on the road. after getting a new battery i noticed that the rear parking lights do not work. i bought new bulbs for brake/parking reverse and signal. i also have a after marker tail light housing but my break lights signal and reverse work but not the parking lights. any advise or suggestions in how i could fix this problem?
***update*** thanks to other threads i found the fuse box. and yes the fuse for the tail lights were out. i then replaced it with a spare and still the tail lights are not working. after burning out three fuses(15A) i am contemplating putting in a bigger fuse. will that work or affect anything else?
It's never really a good idea to throw a bigger fuse at an electrical problem. There's a reason the fuse keeps popping. It's better find the problem and fix it.
Check out the wiring going to the backside. Maybe theres a short somewhere in the park light circuit. Could be some random **** like a crappy ground
today i bought new fuses and still problem continues. i am also going to try and switch back to the stock tail light housing. hopefully that works! but how would i go about tracing the wire to the back side? i should like to use my after market housing.
If it pops fuses there is a problem. Start looking over the harness especially by the tail of the truck. If it has a trailer light harness start there.
Get up under the back side of the truck. Pull down the wiring to each tail light and license plate light and follow it towards the frame rail
