So, i sold my 86 about two months ago.. and after about a month of searching i finally found this gem. its definately a diamond in the rough, but i plan to change that.

I have big plans for this one, the 86 was kinda just thrown together. I am taking my time on this truck, covering all aspects.

    Here is the 86:

Here is the 81, and my progress so far

    Day i got her

    Then the dissassembly

The freshly rebuilt 22r, motor is strong. No leaks whatsoever, brand new everything. Literally. Reason i bought the truck.

    More dissasembly

So, that is all basically steps backwards. So here is the progress i have made.

got rid of some minor surface rust on the frame, sanding, grinding, then primering the frame with primer/zinc coating

    Primered the diff as well

    then some gloss black paint

    painted the diff pontiac blue

Thats about it for now, parts are coming in the mail. So i can finish up the rear end.

    Parts coming in:
    -Beltech Nitro 2 drop shocks
    -Raybestos Shackles
-Energy Suspension Leaf Spring Bushing kit
    -Pep boys U-Bolts

i also have been sourcing out parts for the truck, and this is what i have aquired so far
    -New 4wd fenders(oem aftermarket)
    -New Hood(oem aftermarket)
-Used Truck Bed(old one was beat up)
-Used 4wd flares for the rear
-Used doors with less holes and much better condition

Reason i am getting the 4wd flares and fenders are because i ordered wheels for this. Specs are
    15x10 -25

Ill try to post pix once a week as i do some progress. Hopefully you guys like my progress so far

Nice truck...Build threads like this is the reason why I wont let go of my 82. Im in the same position as you just need my motor to look like yours. If you can give more info on those shackles that would be great. My 82 is going to be notched so I can run a 5/6 drop. Maybe those shackles you mentioned will strengthen my rear end suspension.

I have the mesh, but they are for sale.

The shackles are just to replace the factory ones, nothing special about them. I just want everything fresh under the truck.

I am also going to be notching mine, should have done that before I painted everything.. But I am only doing a c notch so it won't be to hard to repaint. Ill most likely be doing trac bars on the diff, that will definitely help stiffen up the suspension

pic of the truck as of this monday, got the wheels and tires mounted up. still not on the truck, hopefully this weeknd. having problems uploading pix of them, but once i figure it out ill have them up.

this is the only pic i have so far of the wheels:

15x10, -25. tires are 195/50... to those who are gonna ask why, simply because i can. kinda like the look, and the truck is just gonna be my daily. so i dont need aggressive tires or anything like that. wheels still need to be painted, cant rock the all polish, not a fan of chrome, and thats what they look like.

So here is a little update.. painted the wheels this weekend. Color is a Bright Magnesium blue.

First I laid down the base coat, which helps the blue pop because its a candy

then a couple coats of blue, and some clear

kinda hacked up a vossen wheels sticker and made me some FLOSSEN stickers ;)

here is the finished product, pretty happy with it
