overheating problem!!!!

    ok i just recently had a newly rebuilt 22re installed on my '94 yota...the problem im having is when i drive on the freeway the engine starts 2 get real hot...& if the truck is on while parked it's fine...has a brand new thermostat...gonna maybe get the radiator flushed?

    i would give that a flush. as for flushing, add some more fluid before the flush, just incase you left any air in the system

    thanks...also did sum research & found that my fan clutch could be bad 2...i was gonna replace the radiator somewhere down the road but guess i can do it now! maybe replace the fan 2!

    If you can hold the fan at idle while the engine is running the clutch is bad... *please watch your fingers! do it carefully.... If it's bad you don't need to buy a new one either. Open the clutch up and add some roofing tar (1-3 table spoons should do the trick). It's an offroading trick from the islands, tried and true...

    If the fan is good, check your cat and exhaust manifold if it's red hot or looks burnt up... It maybe starting to get full of carbon and not flowing as it should at highway speeds.

    Also double check your timing, maybe on the advanced side a bit. Leaning you out, which is defenitely not good for your newly rebuilt motor.

    thanks for da suggestions...will definately check 'em out. As far as the timing goes, i checked it & it was a lil off...so i made the adjustment...idles a lil better but still running hot onda road...gonna check it out some mo' onda weekend! thanks again
