has anyone had any fitment issues in the stock location with one of these batteries? i need a new battery and looking into these
I have a redtop and it fit no problem. I'll get the size when my wife gets home with the truck in a few hours.
cool beans. do you think it would be really worth it in my truck? i dont have a sound system or anything and no compressors to run. also its A 22R so there really isnt anything that need power lol. i just hate going and getting in my truck on a cold morning and it has no juice
It will give you cold cranking power and probly give the electrical system a little more juice. Optima's are mainly for aftermarket accessories......stereos, off-road lights, winch, etc. You might wanna ask Trap, he's a professional installer.
I have a red top, i've had it for about 5 years with no issues..i originally mounted it without the little tray it comes with, but my bracket i had broke so i needed the tray, but i threw it away 5 years ago..Emailed optima and they sent me one free of charge!! Optima is good to go, i'm buying another one if this one ever dies..lol your going to have to modify the original battery hold down bracket though its a little short Part# 27980 Model# red75/35
i dont even have the stock battery strap i had to get a universal one from vatozone. and its just threaded rod with wing nuts so its adjustable
mine is about half an inch short, i have to adjust the battery sometimes cuz it will move around on me, what part# do you have?
group 35 fits perfect. i had a 36 in there b4. i would recommend the yellow's due to the CCA's and because it holds a better charge then the reds. im currently running 5 reds. one up front and 4 in the rear. theyre all group 35
i think i will be fine with the red. i mean all thats getting power in my truck are lights and stereo haha and i only have 2 half assed working speakers
Yellow is deep cycle, Red is not. If you're not running a big amp or lots of accessories, you might as well just save money and get a regular battery.
Yes, yellows come in handy if you ever sit in a parking lot with the radio on for long periods. I will never spend the money on a red if a yellow is available. There isn't a big price difference. If you don't race offroad, the spiral wound grid is a bit overkill when a cheap autozone battery performs just as well in every other aspect. Some even come with a red top.
I have a red and I can still do that with my stereo system, maybe not as long as a yellow but who's gonna sit there for 6 hours or more with their system on?
Hello, I noticed your conversation regarding our batteries and wanted to offer some assistance. RedTops are SLI (starting/lighting/ignition) batteries and work great in most applications. YellowTops are designed (and warrantied) for both starting and deep-cycle applications. Even though some people think either is overkill for daily drivers, they can last up to twice as long as flooded batteries and their sealed design minimizes the chance of acid damaging the engine compartment. You can always swap it out for a cheaper battery, if you ever decide to sell your truck. Even if you think you may upgrade your stereo in the future, a RedTop may still be a good choice, as you can always isolate your RedTop and use it strictly for starting duty and run a YellowTop (or other deep-cycle battery) for your stereo or other accessories. If you have any questions about our batteries, I'll do my best to answer them. Jim McIlvaine eCare Manager, OPTIMA Batteries, Inc. Optima Batteries | Facebook
I have a redtop in my truck and it's running a 1,000 watt system with no caps with no issues at all. My alt is giving out though. I plan on getting a little bit bigger alt to help with the stereo and cause the truck is getting bagged in the spring.
I always thought a deep cycle battery was weaker than a regular battery, just the deep cycle holds more charges
