Hey guys long time toyota fan I have owned many (83,85,87,88,04,06 toyota pickups). I am currently thinking of buying a 1970 toyota hilux with the 8rc 4spd. I am wondering if there is anything i should be looking for and what would I be looking at as far as swaping in a 22r and a five speed and the disc brakes. I have cruzed the forum and tried finding info on exactly what i would need to do this but have gotten some mixed answers. I also wonder if this 1970 is a bad choice for a swap etc. I love the 22r motor i know there are some here that will say that its not really worth it but i think it will be. Also is there any chance that a 2jz motor would fit in one of these trucks or is it way to long/big? not that i would do that swap for a long long time.
i doubt a 2jz would fit without some firewall modification. As for the 22r swap its not that hard, but it will also require some fab work. I did it to my 73 with is the same frame and front end size and it wasnt that hard. I havnt converted over to disc yet, i just havnt had the time. Thats just a simple spindle swap with an 80's pickup. good luck, post up pics of the truck, if ya have been lurking you should know the rules by now lol
