Well picked up my 84 SR5 2wd yesterday and by luck found this site.

So thought i would join up and get some knowledge on my truck.

Got a quick question on the truck. From what i read on 84 2wd they came with the 22r carb but on mine it has the 22re. So i was wondering if some 84's 2wd came withe the 22re or could someone have swapped the motor in? Asked the previous owner but he didn't know and on carfaxs it's listed as carb. If any info it would be appreciated thanks

I'm pretty sure they switched over to the 22re late in the year. In 85 they all came with 22re's I believe.

Carbs were still available until late '88. I've even seen an early '89 with a carb. Most of the non-SR5 trucks came with a carb until '87.

 

Thanks for the comps. As for plans i just want to get it looking nice first before doing anything major. So fresh paint is on the list, a dash cover and other interior pieces
