I have a 1986 toyota pickup. 22re. I recently went in through the top end to replace timing chain and cover. New gaskets all the way around. New thermostat. No oil leaks or water leaks. After rebuild, oil looks good, coolant looks good. I had very little heat before the rebuild but zero heat after. Then i replaced heater core and heater control valve. Still no heat. Heater hoses get hot but no heat inside the truck. Any suggestions?
if your blower is working, you obviously have a clogged fluid passage at the valve or in the core. Does both the input and output hoses get hot?
Those year trucks were bad for air blockage in the heater cores, the heater inlet hoses sit higher than the radiator, raising the nose of the truck up helps to eliminate air, keep burping the system, also have seen people fill the heater hoses and core before putting the hoses on to get as much air out as possible.
I always raise the front end as high as possible and run up to operating temp and then keep filling as needed. Has always worked well for me.
if your blower is working... and both heater hoses are hot... the only thing it can be is the door in the venting system is stuck closed... try manually pulling the rod attached to the door. good luck!
