Hello fellow Toyota owners. I'm Knew to the site so if I'm asking ?'s asked a thousand times before please bare with me and point me in the right direction. I'm wondering who knows what about the various tuners available for my 91 with the 22RE ?

22re=waste of time performance wise, you can up the hp a little but it won't make that much of a difference when compared to the money spent

bang for your buck motor swap it

 

engnbldr.com can do a lil bit if you wanna open up for a lil daily driving. helps a bit. not a billion, but some good stuff there.


if one is to tune a 22RE, he might as well go all the way...

 

Thought about it but don't want the added weight that comes along with it.

 

look into an aluminum motor ie ls1, 1uzfe

same wieght as a 22re, over double the power out the box

my 4runner has a pretty built 22re (internally and external mods). Did it make a difference, yes, a big enough difference no. It's slow as hell..........it's a waste of money. Just my .02 from experience...

an extra 100lbs from a motor swap (7mge) is worth 80+ more hp.

In a 2wd mini a built 22re is feasible but is more for nostalgic/cool purposes in my mind
