Hey, everyone, Im new to this site so I figured I'd introduce myself and my rides. My project for the past year has been a 1989 BMW E30, wich recieved a carbureted 3.5 litre, cammed, high compression, nitrous sniffing M30B34 inline 6 out of an e28 5 series. Backed by a 5 speed and 3.73. [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] My Daily (and the love of my life<3) for the past 3 years has been a trusty but NOT at all rusty 1991 toyota pickup 4x4 5-speed. Its been great to me and Ive had a lot of great times in it. Ive driven all over the east coast picking up parts for my e30 build. Taken it caping, gotten laid in it ect.... I cammed it, installed headers and an exhaust, but unfortunately it was still fkng sl0 as 54it... Not that I didnt keep up on maintenece (regular valve adjustments, new vaccum lines, and regular oil changes with GOOD zinc rich oil) but I have been subconsciously trying to kill the little 22re everyday but it just wouldnt die. FINIALLY the other day it started giving up the ghost; terminally Ill with a case of the rod knock and loss of oil pressure below 1500 rpm. That being said, Im looking to V8 swap it. Im leaving to join the navy here in the spring of 2016 and one way or another I need to move my crap and my car down to Pensacola florida from Chesapeake VA. Im only 20 so I dont own a whole lot. (everything can fit in the bed of the truck) SOOOO I plan on towing my E30 with my pickup. Yeah, 22re aint gonna cut it. my current plan is a mild, carbed ford 302 and 2wd ford auto trans. Removing the front diff will make fitting the engine easier hopefully. Anyone have any tips for me? Havent found any info on a 4x4 to v8 pre runner swap. What mounts should I use? can I use 2wd mounts? Will a front sump 302 clear the front steering? What accessory drive should I use? Ect. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks! OH AND HERES THE YOTA [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG]
forget the the ford 302 and go 1UZ swap they sell all the parts to make it a drop in swap and the wiring for the 90-01 ls400 is super easy
Just wondering: in the BMW, why didn't you go with triple Webers as long as you're going carburetors? Individual runners sound so sweet at WOT...
Ive been seriously thinking about a 1uz, I'm just a little worried about clearance. 1uz's are freaking amazing motors though. I didn't go with Webber's because of the cost. The single 4 barrel is much easier to tune as well.
