i just got a red 77' longbed... and i was wondering what would be the easy way to lower it a little, keep the original ride, and still be able to drive it up dirt roads. i dont want to rub my tires and want to be able to turn normally (does tucking the tire alot stop you from turning hard?) i want to keep this running for a long time, ima drive real slow( not that i have much choice) and easy. ill get some pics as soon as i get a camera...and ill start a build thread...this is gona be fun...i love this truck!! theres a lot of sweet trucks on this forum, and endless knowledge. drop some for a noob...
Cut 2 coils out of the front springs and put on 3" blocks in the rear. That will get it nice and low without being so low you scrap on everything and you'll still be able to turn just fine.
Drop some mighty max springs in, they are the same diameter as the stock springs. They will give you the same drop as cutting two coils off the stock springs. Don't cut your stock springs, just in case you want to go back for whatever reason. Or... I have a set of stock mighty max springs, if you want to trade. I also have a set of stock springs with two coils cut off.
wow you guys beat me to it... Hey Bro Welcome to TM Yeah dude what they said, any more than 3 in the rear and 3 in the front startes a whole stock tire rubbing thing..
so ive read a little about turning the tors. bars down...how do i do this...and how much might it lower it?
and you guys ment mitsu. springs?...what year...and that will lower it 3"...if i wanted to put stiffer shocks in there to what should i go with...are there any that a could get off another vehicle...
your truck doesn't have torsions. it has coils. only the 79-95 guys are lucky enough to have a factory lowering option lol i've only read about doing the mitsu springs so i'm no help there. i got some stock springs out of my 73 if you want em. i'm about an hour away. RockAuto Auto Parts has em for $30-40.
