whats up everyone...new to toyotas, have done as much research as i could trying to find my answers but figured it was time to get the help from an online forum. i picked up an old 42 ford with a toyota front and back half...cant find any info on what year frame/suspension he used. the run 6 lug pattern, and yea... ill post a couple pics in hopes that someone could really really help me....
i would call that a 79-83 yota frame... but it should be a 5 lug. only yota 4x4's are 6 lug. maybe somebody swapped in 4x4 spindles. can you post some up close pics of the back of the wheel and spindle?
I'm thinking that is a Mazda front end, probably from a 2200 series pick up, that would explain the 6-lug on a 2wd. http://image.minitruckinweb.com/f/8568426+w750+st0/0604mt_07_z+1986_mazda_b2200+drop_spindles.jpg
Looks like a mazda frame. As mentioned, B series Mazda would be 6 lug. I just looked at my mazda and the front bumper mounts are the same as yours with one bolt on top and one from the front. My Mazda also has the same cross member with the holes. Im getting ready for work so Ill try taking some pics later so you can try to compare my mazda to your frame. Mazda B2000,B2200 86-93 could be what you have. Nissan D21 hardbody 86-97 also was 6 lug and the front bumper mounted the same way.
here is a couple more pics, but from what i see, it looks identical to your mazda setup...is that good or bad?
that looks alot like mine despite where dude hacked and modified the bag mounts with some poor cutting and welding how would i go about converting to a 5 lug? is there spacers out there? kits to do it? etc...im going to be running a z-d rear frame piece gm 10bolt with the 5 lug...only because im running a turbo'd v8, unless i can be pursuaded to run a smaller motor...turbo'd of course
I just wanted to point out that GM didn't offer the same lug pattern on any of their vehicles as the Toyota pattern which is 5X114.3. GM did offer some with a 5X115 pattern which might be close enough to work without adverse effects, but the pattern is different. Why do you want to use a 10 bolt rear end, anyway?
well im getting a fully built rearend and rectangular tubing in return for my entire c-notched back half. but im going with a skyline drivetrain so im thinking i may need to go with another rearend in general
You got some nasty plans for that thing by that sound of it. So a boosted rb on a mazda frame with a ford body. Bad ass
Yeah, that thing is gonna be sweet! Right on. I figured it was some reason like this. I was just wondering since I haven't ever heard the 10 bolt described as a super desirable rear end, although I have heard it is comparable in strength to a dana 44. Welcome to the forum by the way!
yea plans are for a fun ride to play with but not to really worry about show like looks. a buddy gave me his 10 bolt that came out of his dads 69 chevelle, was fully rebuilt, all in exchange for my backhalf. so i figured how to set that axle bolt pattern up, with the mazda front...
