hello all! well i'm new to this forum, i spend most of my time on another forum called turbobricks.com. it's a RWD turbo volvo forum. the truck is mine and my girls, kinda starting it as a project for her. first up i gotta tell ya, my girl is bad ass. this is the truck she drove when i met her. the first night she stays at my place the truck doesn't start... i'm late for work, and can't help... she slides under the truck, and says "yep my starter fell out, i need a 14mm wrench" or something to that effect [been awhile]. she fixes it herself, drives a stick, maintains her own cars, and well we've been together for a while now here is a picture of it 3" drop with 16x7 +10 marquis wheels in the rear and some 16x7 +30 euro ford wheels in the front: sadly i don't have these wheels, so it's rolling on stock wheels for now. i love our little truck, and i hope to build it up to something nice for my girl to mob around in / shop truck. current plans are just EFI, turbo and some 3pc wheels. i have some partial sets right now, but i'll find something for it i'm sure normally i drive these: 1988 volvo 244, 18x9.5 & 18x8 HRE 540s, DOHC swap, BMW trans swap, Civinco programmable EFI, Holset Turbo, self made front airdam and rear spoiler ETC ETC ETC ETC 1971 volvo 142e 18x9 & 18x8 Kinesis K20s, DOHC, megasquirt EFI, ETC ETC ETC i have a small shop here in tucson. i do TIG welding, build turbo manifolds & exhaust stuff mostly, and weld/straighten alloy wheels.
Welcome to TM!!! I've vacationed in AZ and really enjoyed it. We stayed a couple nights in Sedona and did some hiking through the "red" rocks. We then headed to the Grand Canyon. I absolutely enjoyed the scenic helicopter ride over the GC. Last stop was in Phoenix. While the others went out to dinner, I walked down the street to catch a Suns game. Looks like your truck is in good shape & hope you keep it that way! Rick
thanks man! truck is in actually decent shape, for 240k+ miles. i have some of the missing/bad parts for it. it was used mostly as a DD by my girl, and for little things like dump runs and bringing home a couch. Sedona is defiantly nice, i've lived in PHX, tucson, and Sierra Vista most of my time here.
Cool! And I have friend's in Tucson, Glendale, & Mirage. I got my truck brand new when I was a Junior in HS (Nov, 1981). It's fully loaded minus the moon roof. My classmates are amazed when I attend alumni events that I still have it. It's still a GREAT truck in both looks & performance. I'm doing a lot less driving these days, so I'm clocking in @ ~275,000 miles. Besides work and grocery getter, I do enjoy camping & taking my truck to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Mini-truckin' will always be cool!!!
That turbo brick with the hre rims Is badass .. I've seen a few bricks on YouTube those things will lay down some tire
Loves to fish, doesn't own a boat (yet). I took her camping last year for her first time fishing&camping. She went and got her fishing licence, tackle, pole etc too. We fished off the bank, she caught I think 8 fish no problem. I'm not a big fisher, but used to fish in the ocean when I was younger so I have an idea of what's going on. When it comes time, she will do/help with a lot of the work on the truck. I taught her how to MIG weld, she's helped do some body work. And generally has a clue. I see her doing parts of the exhaust, paint and bodywork. Obviously ill be doing the manifold, intercooler pipeing, megasquirt, etc since that is what I do well Oh she's easy on the eyes too Anyway Truck doesn't need a lot of work, mostly TLC. Oh, thanks for the comments on my 244, it is starting to be a beast. My freind with a same block and turbo, but a crappy 8v head put down 305hp/322tq @ 20psi. That's a 200+ mile engine with no internal work done, mustang dyno, stock intake etc. His best 1/4 mile time is 12.01 on slicks, no nitrous. Don't be too surprised to see a Volvo engine in the truck if the 22r gives up on me. LOL
