Hello, My name is Tom, I'm from Adelaide, Australia and I have recently acquired my first ute, a 1978 RN25 Hilux. I've been into Corolla's for years, but when this opportunity came up I just couldn't pass it up. The car cost me $100, has just over 100,000km's (that's 60,000 miles for you yanks!) and has the trusty 12-R and 4 speed column shift. Has rust but nothing too bad, mechanically great apart from a worn clutch, interior is sweet with no cracks on the dashpad Had been sitting at my uncle's farm for 5 years until I got it going, registered it and drove it home last weekend. I will start a project thread for it later today, but here is a teaser pic or two for those who are interested. As found at the farm - check the huge tray!!! After getting it home An arty shot of the grille area before cleaning - was going to leave it like this for patina but decided against... And here is my Corolla - a 1980 KE38 wagon which I love dearly.
Thanks David, yes photos are very flattering to the wagon, it's fairly good but does need quite a bit of body work. Interior is very nice in this car, and I've fallen in love with the colour! It's a long term project which I'm not starting yet as it's fine to drive as is and still looks good, plus I'm distracted by an RN25 now!!! I've chucked a couple pics of the wagon's interior up... Cargo area is better than any I've seen I'll leave plans for my hilux until I start a project thread so I'm not double posting, so keep an eye out for that! And before anyone asks, I will divulge the story of the Lite Stout body in my avatar. This car resides at a very old and interesting wrecking yard nestled in country South Australia. The place is a goldmine of 50's and 60's cars which have been there for years and are covered in moss, and he only opens once a week for 4 hours. The Stout is unbelievable - hardly any rust and a body which could easily be restored. If I had the money and wasn't renting I would buy it as a garden ornament...it just fascinates me and I could look at it all day!!! We've also toyed with the idea of chucking the body on another chassis, as is, and driving it!!! It's missing the entire rear chassis section anyway... Here are some pics....how good would this look on the road with the paint like this...if there is such a thing as "peak patina", then surely this is it! I am sure there are many people on here who, just like me, get a little lump in their pants when they see these photos...
A few more pics while I'm at it... One more of the Stout showing the rear end which is...gone An RN25 which is also there - we took the spring loaded folding fender mirrors off - these will be fitted to mine. And finally, my favourite Hilux photo found on the interwebby somewhere...
Sorry but no thanks, and I'm not sure why you're posting un-related links which I assume are advertising - I'm not sure the moderators will appreciate it and I don't think forum rules would permit it.
