Hi there - Terry Reilley here. I just purchased a 1991 Toyota PU with 22R and 5-speed this past weekend to use for light hauling of things I would not put in my new 2012 Volvo XC60. The truck has 237K miles and I bought it for $1900. The red paint is faded and there are small dents from front to back, but I really didn't buy it for looks anyway. Interior not horrible, but I'd love to replace the bench seat with a couple of buckets just so I could have a console with a decent cup holder since mine has none. There is a small hole in the driver's side vinyl flooring, but can be easily covered with a floor mat eventually. My first plan is to take the truck to a reputable Toyota repair shop (I'm thinking ToyoTechs in Chamblee) and have it looked over front to back to identify any real problems. It seems to run just fine, albeit the idle seems slightly high to me. One of the instrument cluster lights (194) needs to be replaced, so I ordered two LED replacements along with a replacement dome light (also LED). The dome light was missing the cover, so I am searching for a replacement but I think I will end up replacing the entire rear-view mirror/light assembly. The radio antenna is one of those tacky CB antennas with the spring base. It's broken at the top and very sharp, so I want to replace that ASAP. I just can't figure out how to remove it properly. If this turns out to be a really good truck, I may consider restoring it completely. It has a plastic bed liner, but I've always been a fan of the sprayed liners which I had in my 2009 Silverado (Line-X brand). OK, I've rattled off enough - thanks for the read!
i'd say you payed a little much but not bad since mine was in similar condition and i paid the same amount, but mine had the 4runner front end conversion, 22re engine (fuel injected, not carbreuated...hehehe), and a sound system. as for the dome light cover, i highly recommend junk yards before buying online. good for local economy and generally cheaper. plus you always find other stuff for cheap. i found my roof racks and interior pieces from a 4runner all for 60 bucks. ;]
