    Hi Guys

    Just checking in as I'm new to the site.

    I recently purchased an 11/71 RN16 trayback that I bought on a whim, simply to save it from being wrecked. No doubt typical of the age/type of vehicle it's very rusty but at the same time it's relatively solid & a genuine restoration prospect.

    I've been playing cars & bikes for years, most recent projects having been a turbocharged GSX1400 and currently in my garage is a B210 Datsun 120Y with about ten times the standard power output :lol:

    The RN16 will certainly be getting a body & mechanical restoration, plus a few minor upgrades (like disc brakes)... and as to whether the factory engine is canned or kept I'm as yet undecided!

    At the moment the ute is completely standard, save for:

    * plenty of rust
    * plenty of bog/filler
    * a few dodgy "farm" repairs like tec screws holding the doorskin on
    * the tray & towbar which I assume are not Toyota items
    * a set of Ford alloy wheels

    Tray is definitely on the "bin list" although I won't be fitting a styleside tub at all, just a nicer looking flat tray with marine carpet.

    Yep, Brisbane... or 'Brisvegas' as people like to call it for some unknown reason.

    Have already started buying up stuff from ebay like windscreen rubbers, etc. Just the stuff I can buy that I know I'll need and I can't change my mind on. Not buying anything motor-related for a while, apart from stuff to give it a quick service.

    Needs lots of bodywork, so I'm going to shelve the whole thing, apart from research and parts hoarding, until I move house not long after Christmas.

    Going off topic a little...a few pictures of the Datsun, as requested. Still a work in progress, but certainly getting close to being back on the road again. It's fitted with a CA18DET, standalone Haltech ECU, upgraded turbo, etc.

    Current upgrade is to upgrade the turbo. Which was already upgraded! Was around 300hp at the engine before and new setup should be getting close to a neat 400hp at the engine.

    The 210 (called a 120Y here, also voted the 'worst car of all time' haha) should be back on the road shortly. I have the fuel tank being flushed out at the moment, when that comes back (mid-week, perhaps) I should be just about right to start it again.

    Back on-topic though... trying to find a place to store my Hilux for 8 weeks or so... I'm currently in a small unit with no space & moving to a house late January/early Feb.
