Hey, My name is Derick! Glad to be a member here. I just bought a 1978 Hilux that had a 22R with a 5 speed in it! Really exited to start working on it. She's got a reasonable amount of rust on her, especially on the bed (which is practically rotted out). The body is really dented all over the place. One of the previous owners had the springs in the front and back cut a reasonable amount so the suspension is pretty bad. Other than that there's not too many other problems besides a shabby fuel pump job and a slight oil/gas leak somewhere. Trying to find out what size rims I need for her. Could anyone tell me the specifications of the kind of rims I should get? I want them at a decent offset so that they stick out the sides of the well just a bit.
Welcome to the forum. Glad to have another classic in here. We suck at vizualizing, we need to see the pictures don't be shy haha. Good luck on restoring. As fir the wheels it depends on what your doing with the suspension. Most people do drops, you probably want wheels with low offset. Anywhere from 15 to 0 maybe even negative offset??? Depends on your future goals
Check out this thread lots of nice wheels http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/suspension-chassis-67/stanced-hellaflush-trucks-16877/
Welcome Derek, I have a 1980, and went with 16x6.5's from a 1996 RAV4. They required a one inch (25mm) spacer. There are pictures on my build thread from all sort of angles (Junk 1980 build). Not going for the low look, so they did what I wanted which was: Decreased highway RPM Increased ground clearance slightly Easy to find tires (unlike the stock 14's) Again welcome and good luck
