Hey everyone, well after tons of searching it would seem I have landed myself on one of the more informative sites for the 2 wheel drive toyotas. I am not new to wrenching and modifying toyotas but most of my experience has been with 4x4's. I have a 95 limited 4runner with a 3.4 swap all completed myself including wiring. And the truck that has brought me here is a 92 standard cab absolutely bone stock( including the silver painted steel 14" wheels). It has 247k on the odometer and it wasn't working when I bought it so no telling how long it's been that way and or the actual miles. I would suspect the motor has been rebuilt with close to 170 psi in each cylinder with only a couple psi variance. Tranny whines like hell in all but 4th gear but I don't care as I have plans for it.
Plans include swapping in a lexus 1uzfe v8 with the auto trans. Yes I know the manual trans is more desirable but I'm getting old and lazy so shifting just isn't my thing anymore. That and if everything goes as planned I want to boost it and the manual trannies just don't hold up to that kind of power unless you go with the supra trannies which are not cheap. I haven't decided whether to lower it a little and make it a fast street truck or go the prerunner route. I will be doing even more searching for info on this site as well as others to see what mods I will need to do to fit the motor. I know it's been done in tons of 4x4's but I can't seem to find much info on swapping one into a 2 wheel drive.
