    Hey People,

I have been creeping round here for a while, thought it bout time I joined up. I hail from southeast nc. I have been trying to find myself a great yota for quite a while now, and finally found myself a diamond in the rough i hope! So... Truckwise...1983 2wd long bed deluxe, 5spd, 22r carbed. Has some additional options like ac/sliding back window. Very limited rust, if any. i was stoked when i picked this thing up for $350. Previous owner was working on it and had unexpected event. Needed to get rid of it...my benefit! I bought not running, knowing hole in timing chain cover, and hoping that was it...well...it turns out one of the cylinders in burned, engine done.

Need any advice. Can put in another engine, or trash, and start over. The truck itself is in really nice condition i think for being 83. It would be a really fun restore deal, if i can get running for relatively cheap. If i dont keep i will try and find 80s or older. i am loving the round headlight look...

    any thoughts?

I have some mean plans for this bad boy I hope!

    Thanks in advance

My advice since you got it on the cheap is rebuild the engine I'm sure someone on the forum has a short block laying around or even a complete engine and welcome to the jungle

Welcome to TM, nice truck you got there and the body looks good to. Id say keep it and just wait it out alittle bit cause theres always engines poping up. So what was your master plan for this girl?

Well, beyond getting her running i do not have "major plans" at this point. I have some things i have been looking at. My bro has a set of extra mustang rims i was thinking about throwing on there so see what they look like. I actually would like to keep it closer looking to stock in respect for history, but it needs a total overhaul. The major work needs to take place in the cab. I plan on putting in an extra alpine deck i got lying around. it could really use a newer bench seat. The current one is pretty torn up. i would also love to give it a good sanding and fresh paint job.

I just finished a 6 month rehab project on the house, wishing the whole time i had a truck. ironic, now i got it...

    got any ideas

ha...thats a thought. you mind find this crazy, but i picked up another 83 truck today, again for a really good deal. Its bed is rusted off, literally. I will post a pick when i get one, but the cab, and most importantly engine are in really good condition. I actually drove it around to make sure. plus, it has many parts i did not have, like a battery! The interior actually has some parts i can use as well, like seats, which i am happy about. so, i think i will just take all good parts from each and combine. this rehab is looking like more fun everyday :)
