hey guys my names Evan i'm from Columbus NC i just picked up a 94 pickup 2wd 5 speed with 108k miles the timing chain was rattling and had wore a hole in the timing cover so filled crank case with oil. i knew it but the old man said he didnt drive it after this happened. well got the new chain tensioner water pump and cover in and the engine has a knock!!! i plan to rebuild the motor in the truck. i want to know the best way to go! thanks in advance for all the info i plan on being a regular on the site learning about my little gas saver!!
Bump ttt I drove the truck 100 miles today. I plan to do a full rebuild new crank rods pistons rings and get the head checked. I'm gonna drive it like it is for a couple weeks and hope it don't just sling a rid through the block. If it does how easy is it to find a block?
Welcome to the forums LC engineering and engnbldr.com will have pretty much everything you need for a rebuild from stock to modified
Ok thanks guys I plan to tear it down next weekend it's knocking pretty loud after driving around town today. I get all parts from carquest in town at there cost so I will probably be going through there for all my parts unless I get them cheaper other places. I hope to have it back going in a couple weeks
Bump ttt I got the motor out. Gettin a crank and bearings. Debating on doing a full rebuild cylinder walls look great has 108k miles on it. What do y'all think I should do?
Ok yeah that's kinda what I was thinking. Where is the best place to get the parts I'm probably gonna need crank rods pistons all bearings seals and gaskets. Oil pump not going to touch the head unless I see an issue.
Bump ttt got some unexpected expenses so I'm only replacing crank bearings rings and one rod that spun its bearings. I'm pickin up the parts tomorrow and gonna work on it Friday and Saturday!! I hope to have it up and goin this weekend as long a I don't run into any big problems
