I bought several spray cans of the factory-coded paint, and I was figuring I could be a lot more thorough with the painting if I did it before hand, but then how much mucking around is it to fit them on? For those of you who have done fender swaps, is it more a 2 person job or can a newb do it by himself without scratching the hell out of them? Also, is it an easier job to pre-install the fender liners, or do it in two stages?
test fit the fenders and line them up how u feel. that way u can pull them off and paint them a lil easier. dnt even put the fender liners in...
I ordered new fender liners with the new 4x4 fenders (should be here in a few days)... but it just occurred to me... any chance the existing 2wd liners will work with the new 4x4 fenders? That would probably save me around $60.
Paint all the edges that cant be shot with it on the vehicle (where in bolts under the hood, in the door jamb area, then put it on the vehicle and shoot the outside of the fender
Ya tht makes more sense cause if you put it on where you want it and take it off your gonna have to move it around alot to get it where it was and could scratch it. I'd do what shortyzkustoms said
i put my 2wd liners on my 4wd fenders but theres bout a inch gap so i bolted the inside n ziptied the gap...n it works fine
Funny, I was literally thinking this same process just a few days ago. Makes perfect sense. I could paint those areas now, put the fenders on and shoot the outsides of the panels once the weather gets warmer in a few weeks. I don't mind driving with primered panels for a few weeks.
