I'm posting this thread for my buddy, who has a 1994 Toyota Pickup 22re 5spd. His truck was sputtering on the freeway today and eventually died and wouldn't restart until it was cold. His fuel pump is good, new fuel filter, recently adjusted valves and cleaned throttle body. He pulled the codes, and this is what we found: 12-Knock Control Sensor signal/RPM signal. 13-Knock Control CPU (ECM)/RPM signal 24-Intake Air Temperature Sensor signal. 25-Air-Fuel Ratio Lean. 31-Air Flow Meter signal (Vacuum Sensor signal). Other info: -His airbox it routed to where the battery originally is and is angled downwards due to it not being securely mounted and having his wheel wells cut out. Has those cheesy silicon boots from Vatozone -It seemed to run good prior to this incident, but had a cel on. -He replaced the driver's side motor mount yesterday. My thoughts are to try a different afm (I have one on my other truck), check O2 sensor wiring, check relays, fuses, and grounds, and make sure the air intake isn't leaking. Has anyone had a similar issue? What do you suggest to look for first? We were planning on heading out to the desert this weekend so would like to fix it asap. Thanks.
Being that it wont start untl cold...to me means it has to go back into open loop mode, meaning i tignores the input from the o2 sensor...once the engine reaches temp, it goes to closed loop and reads the signal from the o2 sensor... Being that you have o2 sensor codes...they could be related..somewhere to start..
