I just bought a 89 reg cab short bed. just bought the paint yesterday painting it this weekend. and i wanted to lower it. does anyone know whats the best way to lower it 3 or more inches. for around 450 or cheaper. if anyone has any suggestions ide appreciate it. i have huge plans for the truck but im gonna start small. and try to learn as much as i can.. thanks
Welcome to toyotaminis! Search for Beefed Taco on the site and I guarantee it wont cost $450 for a drop!
if thats your budget, i strongly suggest either the belltech drop leafs, or have a spring shop dearch yours. then you can always use a short lowering block to bring it down more. and a set of lowering spindles up front, with a balljoint flip/relocation. then adjust the torsion bars to go lower. but that will equate to the best possible ride. most guys just do the $60 route and crank the torsions way down and use huge lowering blocks.
just did the ball joint flip, torsion and 3" blocks on mine today, came out nice, will have to get pics up..
It costs more than you think. My Belltech 2" drop spindles, 3" blocks, and 4 Toxic drop shocks were just under $450.
well eventually not anytime soon ide like to bag it but for now i want to drop like 4 in. what im thinking i would like to do now is drop spindles flip the bjs with torsion bars...... and in the rear just do blocks.
This is where I bought my Belltech spindles, they were $226 http://www.stylintrucks.com/part.as...sults_trigger=&partfamilyid=3350&partid=20486
you should take a look around at some of the other posts around here and some in the off topic of ones i have dropped. my basic starter drop is a 4/3. cheap effective and good ride quality is still retained. writeup on the bjf (ball joint flip) is in the tech write ups.
if you plan to bag it in the near future, save the money and get blocks not leafs. if it will be more than a few months, i say go for leafs. they can always be sold later and the ride is alot better. spindles can be reused with bags.
