So I pickup up an 83 truck had blown head gasket. Water in oil no oil in radiator and smoking. I changed the head gasket truck running good not smoking but now I'm getting water in oil and oil in water! And I can literally pour water in the radiator and watch it run out the oil pan!! HELP

Pull the timing chain cover off. I bet the timing chain cover has a hole worn in it from the chain. Drop the oil pan down, remove the crank pulley, and all the bolts in the timing cover, there's a 12mm hidden from you on the driver side of the block, under that water tube..get that one. Now pull the distributor, remove the bolt and gear off the cam...dont let the sprocket and chain fall off the cam. Now look inside you'll see a pool of oil, in that pool of oil I'm sure you know since you changed the head, there's another 12mm bolt in there. Slide the cover off an look inside, guarantee the driver side of the cover has a slot cut in it from the chain. You can get a kit on eBay relatively cheap, not OEM, but it'll get the job done. There are options out there for getting a more heavy duty timing kit, just google it.

Worth a check. I've seen head gaskets get installed upside down too.

Doesnt need to be a big hole either for that pressurized water to get into the oil.
    Keep us posted.

Yeah good catch. I've seen ALOT of these worn through...regular maintenance would prevent this but not everyone is as savvy as us Toyota peeps lol

I'm leaning towards either I messed up the gasket putting it on or something. I've never had this problem. Maybe I should have took the head to the shop to get decked?

It's a good practice to deck the head it's not always necessary what is the shape of the head and the head bolts seen a few yota heads with cracked coolant jackets in the head and some with stretched head bolts that gave inaccurate torque specs causing failure and mixing

I can get a timing chain cover off in 20 mins. I'd pull it.

Can you post a pic of the head and head gasket you have on it now.I would have it shaved for sure.around here it cost like $50-$60.It actually saves time and money.Sucks to do all that work and you put it all back together and it happens again.Btw what do you torque your used head bolts to?I go 80ftlbs.

If you wanna go though the trouble of pullin the head agin, take a straight edge, place it diagonally from corner to corner on the bottom and see if you can get a decent feeler gauge between the two at any flat spots. If you can in one spot and not in another, then that head needs cut. Pull the TC first.

Ok so I pulled the timing cover today and its possibly the best one I've ever seen so that not my problem. Guess the heads coming off and off to the shop to get decked
