I have a '94 2WD Short Bed PU. Have had it since '99. Was in Florida Army National Guard many years so it now has 205k miles. Still very reliable. No rust. Just repainted this week (Nov. 2011) to it's original dark green (I think it is a color code of 751). Very high quality paint job. Have just ordered a new bedliner and and locking bed lid (not a topper). Will now start some customizing but now radical. Has gray interior. Looking for suggestions as to good brand of steering wheel at this point. Will also replace shift know and some interior parts. Exterior will get new wheels (14x6). Any ideas on who would sell replacement carpet that actually fits for DIY install? Truck is very reliable. Could buy new but no reason to. When it finally dies, it owes me nothing. Just did get my wife a new Subaru Forester - so the truck is my project. Any suggestions are welcome. Pictures later if wanted. No rust at all on vehicle. Will be doing some further detailing on exterior. Thank you. Jerryc
stylintrucks.com or stockinteriors.com have good quality replacement carpet kits that are perfect molded. Steering wheels there are sooo many off brands but a good quality is Grant (most autoparts stores carry them but you may need to buy the adapter online) Or if you want to go super fancy something like Nardi or Billet specialties.
Like what was said above, Grant steering wheels are nice. There are a lot of off brands that copy Grants's looks and what not so you can get one of those for about half price (thats what i did) but Yes! pics please! and Welcome!
Appreciate the information. I must admit, my project is very simplistic compared to many of the fantastic builds on this site. I can submit some pics as I go along the next few weeks, just not sure where on the site to do so - Gallery maybe? Have had the truck repainted - looks factory new. New wheels and tires next week. Bed lid mid December. Some interior improvements also. Will clean up the engine compartment. Need to keep the height as is. My area of Florida gets a lot of rain and deep puddles. Don't want to lower too much and risk needing a submariners license - although I really enjoy looking at the builds that do. Being a daily driver, rain is always a hazard. At 205k the truck is still strong and should continue so, and look a lot better in the process.
From the main forum page scroll down to 1989-1994 pickups/ subjetc project/build up threads and create your own build page. You can also put them into the gallery but hardly anyone looks there.
