On top of my engine, there's a short rubber elbow that runs from a port at the top of the valve cover (right behind the oil cap) to a metal tube coming off the air cleaner assembly. It's only about 3 or 4 inches. Mine is dry and cracked and I'd like to replace it, but even after a visit to the dealer I can't seem to track it down.

It's 1/2" x 3/8". It seems so simple I could engineer one myself, but I would need a little 1/2" hose that could stand up to oil, and 1/2" only seems to come in heater hose (which is not oil resistant).

    Any ideas?

Call your dealership and tell them to look again under Ventilation Hose. It is still available. With these old trucks if you get a parts person who doesn't know how to use the catalogs they wont find it. They will need your build date to get you the correct one.
You could make your own as you said. Take it to your local parts store and show it to them. there are transmission fluid hoses that are 1/2inch.

Those are both great leads. Much thanks, 90DD.

Sure enough, "ventilation hose" were the magic words. Part #12262-35010 at the dealership ($12) for my '84. Thanks again.
