Here she is. She's bloody long! I had to go across the street and climb the bank to get a full shot!

All I've done to her cosmetically is change the wheels and tires twice and remove the lumber rack and bedliner. Other than that, I've rebuilt the carb and replaced the radiator, upper and lower ball joints, idler arm, all front suspension bushings.

Next up will be 4wd fenders and markers, '87-'88 4wd grille, non-wing doors, and hood.

After I get my super-secret (for now) front brake upgrade (11" rotors and 4-piston calipers for under $200!) finished, I'll be installing 3" drop blocks in the rear and drop spindles in the front.

Near future plans include a propane conversion, 20/22r hybrid build, rear discs (super secret again, less than $150 into them!), and rebuilt SR5 bucket seats.

sept , in my opinion ... with this "LONG" piece .. it should go UP

    ....

I have been looking into one of these units for a long time .. to build into a 4X4 .. 36" swampers .. to just a nice elevation !! :)

looking forward to YOUR build .

Super kewl, its so awesome to look at the longbeds, once a pain in the butt, most of these babies are highly sought over by customizers now. Me, myself, Ide love to have one, but i got hand fulls of projects . . . Keep us up to date with your secret projects and share em with your family when you get the chance . . .

I have another xtra cab that will be getting 37" MTRs. I have a couple of unique ideas for that too. Only enough time and money (and not enough of either!!!) to do one at a time, unfortunately.

I'm looking forward to this build, too. :D I've never had a dedicated street truck.

I don't think I want it to look any longer. I'm considering bobbing the rear of the bed to bring it down to shortbed length. That way I'd keep the long wheelbase but not have the loooong truck. I dunno...

I fully intend to share...after they are completed. :nana: Both of them need caliper brackets and the rear needs ebrake cables. Mostly I just need some time and nothing else that needs doing...like that's going to happen! I'll steal some time somewhere. :waytogo:

Man that's like a limo! VERY interested in what you have planned with bigger rotors and 4 piston calipers... for under 200 bucks! Keep it coming...

Can't do a whole lot since most of the parts are up at my cousin's house. I heard about an easy way to remove decals so I thought I'd give it a try.

    Went from this:

    ...to this:

...in 25 minutes! That includes figuring out the best way to use it and taking pictures! The other side only took 15.

The tool I used is basically a rotary powered-eraser. I used a generic version, but the name brand one is made by 3M and it's called Stripe Off.

    Looks like this:

Bonus: In the green crate in the background is a sneak-peek of my brake upgrade!

NAPA usually carries them here but they were out. I had to go to a specialty automotive paint supply store.

    Rota Slipstreams. 12 lbs. each!

Good news and bad news for my build, today. The good news is I got my 4wd fenders and corners installed.

    Before...well, halfway anyway: :verdict_in:

    After:

Couple of pieces of bad news. First, I must have been sleeping in class the day this was lectured on. Apparently, you CAN'T run 4wd fenders with the 2wd bumper! I didn't realize this until I didn't have time to do anything about it...or anything I wanted to do to my bumper, anyway!

    The result:

    Sawzall time!

I also left all of the spindle hardware at home so I couldn't get the measuring done for the front caliper brackets! :brickknock:

Nice progress, looking good! I wish I would have heard about your eraser when I was removing my pin striping. That really took a toll on my fingers!

I did the tailgate, both sides of the bed, and the extended cab portion of my trucks pin stripes with a hair dryer before I decided enough was enough and found a wheel. I think I used that exact same one as you in the picture. Took a little practice... but the rest of the truck was done in under half hour. Word of caution... be careful on flawed paint... left a few marks when I was first learning to use it. My 89 ext cab has 4wd fenders and 2wd bumper... but I guess it is a difference with the generations. Looking good.
