picked up an 81 2wd diesel in december started building it a little then heard about this site. iv done a little bit since i got it so ill try and post pics in sequence. heres when i bought it much more to come...
a little more good ol 1L 2.2l non turbo makes a wopping 45hp stock L52 tranny took a **** so i put in what i thought was a good W56 5 speed, turns out to be a W45 4 speed, had to order a diesel bell housing out of canada for it too. i got a good W56 to put in now tho a little TR3 does the trick floor pans were all rusted out so i fixed them up and put some eagle talon seats in flexyflexy frame wasnt too happy having been from long beach ca to orono maine and back to idaho so i got rid of it
chop chop the coil shocks are temporary till i aquire everything for bags a little exhaust modification, necessary for the diesel... took it through a car show oops and the fix
new wheels new personalized plates my next step is to bag the rear and slap a turbo on her thats about all i got so far, let me know what you think and any ideas i still need to do the newer control arm and ball joint flip, no plans for drop spindles, no plans for a body drop in the near future... maybe one day tho
love it man makes me want a coal roller now ,also why no panhard bar on the rear does the trianglation keep it centered?
yes triangulation is what keeps it straight it works amazing how ever i afterwards realized i built it wrong, the upper bars are supposed to be 70% of the lower bars. this keeps the pinion at the same angle when going up and down but for a low rider it works great i got the rear bag set up done this weekend ill post pics in a minute
rear baggin got tired of the ****ty coil shocks and did some bag work pre rear bags after the bags but before i took out the rear fenders some fancy shots after the fenders came out FYI: everything you see i built myself by hand so yes those booger welds are all mine but i assure they will hold...ish
Lookin sweeeet!!! Love that you take pride in your skills. All being build by har is what it's about brah. How many hours did you have into frame work and the 4 link? Going to do mine but probably not for a year or so. Have to move in two weeks and it's my DD right now.
thanks im no fabricator but i hate buying pre built parts. the 4 link took a weekend to do no problem, same with the rear bag set up. im up in coeur d alene, nampa is down south right? the stack is 5" its a little excessive but its all i had. i like the chrome stack better than the shorty
5" seems perfect haha good job on the bagging looks better than lowered. Whenever I do a diesel swap I'm gonna run a 5" stack like tht but black
