When I got this truck from my uncle the truck had a blown headgasket. Upon futher talks with my Uncle he said it had a rebuild motor in it. So in fact it had a ATK motor in it. I tore my motor apart and refreshed it and found it was .40 over and with that the pistons stuck out .012 above the block. So I used a oem hg and a .020 copper spacer which messed up the squinch because there is .008 extra space. The truck has run great for the last 4years and last week I noticed that one of the valve seats is leaking so time for some upgrades. So I called LC today and they hooked me up here is the list of parts I ordered:

Street performer head w/efi pro cam
    22re headbolt set
    22re adj cam grear
    12lb flywheel
    street clutch kit
    22re flywheel bolt set
    22re pressure plate bolt set
    22re .040 composite headgasket.

From toyota I ordered new rocker arms and drilled them for better oiling and also new rocker shafts and drilled them like the one LC sells. When I go to install the new clutch and flywheel I will install my w58 that I picked up for $70. I hope to be able to install all this when I get done with my upcoming travel for 6weeks. I hope this will solve my problems and "wake" the truck even more. Already has a header and full exhaust, intake supra maf, bored throttle body and plenum. I know this is a long post and photo will come as parts come in and the work begins.

Im sure it will not be too much maybe 15ish top. Im going to go off the seat of your pants feel. I mean the truck runs great now, pulls hard and its quite fun messing with the honda kids and craving the curves. I know of a dyno place to do before and after dyno's but that would be $200 to let the paper do the talking.

Was alot but I have been saving my perdiem from all my travel. The bill was $1350. Alot of cash but for quality parts I think its worth it.

^^ That doesn't even make sense. He bought NEW parts.

You can't get a new head from a machine shop.

You can't get a new cam from a machine shop.

You can't get an adjustable cam gear from a machine shop.

You can't get a new flywheel or clutch from a machine shop.

You can't get new head bolts, flywheel bolts, pressure plate bolts, or a head gasket from a machine shop.

    Etc.

Having a machine shop do everything would mean paying for parts AND paying for labor on top of that.

That's actually a pretty good price for that much stuff. Looking forward to seeing some pictures.

I didnt mean buy everything there, I meant found the parts cheaper elsewhere online and had the machine shop build the head for you.. Dont know the whole story on his motor but his old head probably was still good and could have been machined

Agreed. Hell I spent almost that much hopping out a 20R head, and its still a 30 year old casting.

He got a great deal. Now he's set up for a 50+ shot of juice no problem. Hope the fuel system keeps up though...

The only thing I would have bought from LCE is the flywheel and adj cam sprocket. Everything else I would have bought through engbuilder.com.
    Just my 2 cents.

by the way does the lce head come with block off plates already on it ??? if so you should send me the efi fuel pump block off.. my birthday is coming pretty soon after all, and you shouldnt need it since your trucks already efi right ? :)

I will let you know on the block off plate. Yea I have been saving to do this all one last time. I would have went with Teds products but a friend of my got one of his topline heads and it need more machine work. So I figure go with what "works" out of the box. I know I could have saved but I would have spent it on other things so its all good. I'm a lot like Truck Action and I want good parts for a headack free fun time. I'm still at work but I will get photos up today. I can't stop thinking about how much fun it will be when done.

would i go with reborring etc? or just replace rings and adjust efi sh!t?
I havent got another vehicle to drive atm :S haha.

what ever you do dont drive the 22re with a rod knock. you can save the motor if you dont drive it anymore... order a rebuild kit on ebay, have the machine shop check your rods and crank and put it back together before you spin something and set yourself another 200 bucks in the hole.

lolux I have some suggestions for you. Just some ideas or whatever you wanna call it.
-3.0Liter V6 Toyota truck radiator for added cooling
-Drill a few holes in your fan pulley on the front of the engine to
    reduce rotating mass (weight).
    -Lightweight flywheel
    -Lighter rims and tires
    -Header and slightly larger exhaust
    -Intake kit/mods
-New oem parts like injectors and spark plugs. New fuel filter(s). Clean out fuel tank. Better spark plug wires.
I wouldn't go with any cams. I would save it for turbo instead of going that route. Stock cams are better with turbo applications.
-Smoothing and cleaning inside intake manifold

    OR
    Engine swap:shrug:

the 22re hasnt been run in ages, but i was the last to start the old celica. it then ran out of fuel/battery.
my mate has been using it as a donor car, so block, efi, wiring, some pulleys and extractors are still there. it seems my cheapest option would be to rebuild the 22refi and use parts of my 22rcarby. than to do a total different engine swap.
while im swapping the 22r's over i might put a manual gearbox in. i hate auto. :(
ive been looking at new rims/tyres, but i want something big, at least 18inch. :p
i just installed brand new radiator, two hoses and thermostat cover :S
ill go with those mods you mentioned, and see how she goes.
