So I want to swap in a diesel into my truck an I've read on toyotadiesels.com an some other sites of swaps. But my main concern is registering after words. I've read tht ppl in CA just go an fill out the statement of facts to change to diesel an someone comes out an checks it an they give a new title with it saying diesel for power or whatever. But the motor I want to swap in is early 80s Mercedes 1. For simplicity 2. Parts are everywhere but I'm worried about the "it has to be same year or newer" thing cause mines a 91 motor would be early to mid 80s. Would they be able to notice its not from a 91 or newer?

It has to be same year or newer. It has to be 100% stock as well.

Do you think they can tell? Especially if it has all the emissions stuff still on it? From what I read a person will just come out an check to see if its infaact a diesel. an thts it.
