ok, so i'm not actually sure what's wrong with it. but it feels like it has a dead miss in one of the cylinders, but it only does it when i'm trying to accelerate. i can take off slowly without a problem for the most part, but when i try to get up to speed a little faster or go to try to pass a car or anything and give it some throttle it starts missing. i haven't really messed with it yet, hoping maybe it was just bad gas but i've put another 20 bucks in since i got the other gas before it started doing it. i've looked around under the hood to see if i saw anything peculiar, but no tell tale signs of anything outta the ordinary... it's hella annoying when i try to get in front of a car and it just bogs down:doah:
like if i try to launch any harder than a normal take off it feels like it almost completely dies!! i'm at a loss, i don't know what to check first. check for fouled plugs first, then move to wires? what's the little "box" that has wires coming from the distributor connected to it? the way it acts i thought maybe it had something to do with the vacc advance of the timing but i don't know.
oh, by the way i guess i coulda put this sooner but it's an 89 with a 22r and it's 2wd
    anything will help, thanks guys

Check all of the ignition components plugs wires . Cap and rotor .if there old as dirt change them for good measure ,the little box is the igniter .normally they just flat give out and dont have sporadic faults . Check over vacuum lines

Fuel filters can do this but sounds lie your describing more of a ignition problem

I'd change the cap, rotor, wires, and plugs. My truck was like that when it was damp out, turnes out to be plug wires shorting to eachother. strangest thing, would do low-load high rom or high load low rpm fine. just don't leave your foot down over 1500 till the wires dried out.

it has been pretty wet up here, it's rained almost everyday this last week and we had a pretty bad tornado here in the OKC area on monday. i'ma go through it when i get paid, so much for my grill and lights but i'm worried more about it's performance than the way it looks right now
