I want to make some changes to the front end of my '77 Chinook ('75 Hilux chassis), and I'd like to have your advice if you've tried the same thing. I need to install some mild fender flares because the tires overlap the fender edges (there's no rubbing problem); see photo. I've tried some various fiberglass flares I have lying around but so far nothing fits very well. Any suggestions? Maybe something from an import 4WD truck? I'm looking for strictly bolt-on, no body work. I want to fit an air dam. I have a mold for an air dam for a '69-'73 Datsun 510(see pics) which looks promising, but any others that you've tried that work? Thanks in advance, Dave
Thanks for the idea. I don't see listings going back into the '70's (which doesn't mean something won't work), anyone know of an application or part# that works? I like the pocket-style bolt-on look ones.
I have a complete 5 piece set for the 72-78 trucks, fiberglass bolt on that fits the same body lines. Might be interested in selling for the right price as they are pretty much non existent to find nowadays, make me an offer if interested. Bushwacker!!! they don.t make them for the 72-78 body style, at least according to them, but at one time they did, I have a pair on my 76, long story short, BW will tell you they don,t make them, never have never will.
Thanks for the suggestions. The problem with the 5-piece set is twofold, I don't need the rear flares (and they would look bad on there); and it's likely out of my price range (especially since it includes the rears which I can't use). I've written Showcars in Toronto to see if they could provide the front flares and spoiler only. If you'd separate the three pieces, I might be interested if within my budget. I might consider front OEM plastic flares from an early Datsun 720 4WD, early 4-Runner, etc from a JY, but knowing in advance which ones fit would be better than trial and error. Anyone know? Thanks.
