    Hi everyone.
I've got a '95 Liteace Jdm with a 2C diesel. Had it 2 years and love it.
Never a problem until a few months ago when it wouldn't start. Turns
over fine but won't start. No power to the stop solenoid. Usually you'd
cut to the chase3 and wire in a separate Wilson switch. But the alternator
and glow plugs are part of the same circuit (apparently) so that's
out. I've checked the fusibles and every relay I could find. Near as I
can tell, there's no signal coming form the glow plug controller. My trouble is
I can't find the controller.I 've gone high and low-even pulled out the
glove box- and can't see it anywhere. There's gotta be one, right?
Does anyone know where it is?
Does the Hilux or Surf hide them too?
    Talk about frustrating!
    Thanks.

First off welcome and second I'm sorry I can't help ya with your problem. There's not many Toyota diesels here in the states but I'm sure someone will chime in with the knowledge. And third we need pics of this diesel gem! :waytogo:

    Thanks for the warmwelcome Lil

Thanks for the welcome LilRed,and the reassurance. It is indeed a gem of a truck. I'd recommend it to
anyone looking for a tough, simple,go anywhere (4 WD & locking diff) economical truck. Add to that 3/4
ton axle,8' box, headache rack and fold down sides and it's good bye Ford,Chevy or any other. It's a real
love affair,me and this truck, and so of course now I want to kill her for betraying me.

Naw there's no betrayal here. She's just feeling a bit under the weather and needs some tlc. I'm sure you'll find out what the problem is. Think of the simple things first. And possibly find a manual about that engine. If all else fails sit down drink a beer and give it a "think". :waytogo:

Well I've drunk more than a few cases of beer over this one.
One of the big problems with this particular truck is that nowhere on the
blue planet is there an English shop manual. So,no wiring diagrams. Something
is blowing the 80 amp glow plug fuse and I've checked every wire and relay in
the circuit with no luck. It's got to be the GP timer which,of course,I can't find.
My wife still loves me but she is grinning a lot over this.:clapping::clapping::clapping:

One thing that I have done on a couple of older diesels is bypass the whole thing and wire a switch for the glow plugs. That solved a couple of issues and also and extended the life of the glow plugs. :waytogo:

That could be what I have to do in the end - and the same for the stop
solenoid which isn't getting juice either. It should work so long as the
alternator circuit isn't part of the picture i.e. requires a signal from the GP timer.
And I hate messing with the original design. After all, she's perfect - or was.

I don't think you'll have a problem. You only really need the glow plugs when it's cold. I've owned two trucks with Cummins engines. They don't have glow plugs. Only block heaters and a small intake heater. My older truck I took the intake heater out and it would start just fine. So if you do install a switch the plugs will last longer as you won't have to use them much in the summer.:waytogo:

I hear you. I'll be taking that road if nobody can help with the Gp timer location.
I'd like to keep the truck stock if I can.
Cummins! King of the diesels in my book. I've got a 4B in a backhoe 25 years old
turns over every time at the touch of the key no matter the weather.
