Looking to find out what (if any) diffs will swap into my 7.5" housing.

I heard a while ago that certain years of supra or celica third members would swap and were available with LSD units.

    Got any info?

I know if you upgrade to a 8" housing from a G coded rearend you can use the 86-92 turbo supra LSD, there is some information on pirate4x4.com. It will also give you lower gear ratios to chose from. I know you can get a 3:58, 3:73, 3:90, 4:10, 4:30, 4:56, and so on.

Every one I've run across has been.

Supposedly the 82-85 supra LSD carrier can be used. Not the whole third, just the carrier. Never seen a write-up.

As long as it's a G coded rearend.

i thought it had to be the 4 pinion 8" for the supra LSD swap... the G code rear end for the V6's

    this is off 4X4 Wire
"The Supra rear third member isn't a drop-in affair because it is laid out a differently (IRS vs. straight axle). The carriers, however, are transplantable. The Supra carrier uses a four pinion design, just like the rear axle in V6 equipped pickups. The Supra carrier will only retrofit into the V6 third member, not the more common 4 cylinder third member. Although I did not do this, it would be a good idea to replace the carrier bearings at this time too, since you have everything apart. "

I understand why this is, there is a size difference between the carrier bearings, the V6 units being the larger of the two. I ran into this with my 4Runner and the solid axle swap.
If I had the money for an 8" swap, I would definitely do it, but at this point, I'm not sure it's worth it. By the time I buy the axle, make sure it's road worthy, and then get the LSD for it, I may as well just leave my axle be and buy the LSD for it. I did plan on an engine swap when I first got the truck, but sadly, I have given up on the swap and just want to finish the rest of the truck.

Actually my 7.5 rear limited slip wasn't that expensive and I bought mine 13 years ago. You could use the 8" rear end but that means you would have to find one which are really not that common. The 3rd members are fairly easy to get though.

Does anyone here have any experience on the 8" 2wd housing swap? I have a 8" 2wd rear end out of a regular 4 speed and I was wondering if the brakes and rear wheel bearing where the same as the 7.5. I bought the complete rear end from the junk yard but the backing plates are all rotted out and if I can use the backing plates from my 7.5 and just swap it over it would work out perfectly. I have yet to find anyone who has done this.

everything is the same. Just remove the four bolts that hold the bearing pocket, slide the whole assembly out, and install in the new axle.

Here is a link to somebody who had a mk2 supra LSD installed in his taco rearend. I think they use the same 7.5" differential as ours. I'll keep looking.

yeah, 3RZ in a older 4x4, but the axle was OEM, so i'm sure that MK2 LSD fits
