does any one know of a lift kit for an 86 2wd? i know fabtech used to make them but i heard they stopped. i was hoping to get anywhere from a 4 to 6 inch, i know 6 inch is far fetched but i dont want to do a body lift. i also looked into a long travel kit that was going for 3k way out of my budget.

should jus invest in a 4wd truck or look for a tacoma frame and lift.

there are no lift kits for these trucks, you have to put them together yourself. first, get a set of lift spindles http://obsessedmotorsports.com/Products.html
these guys are pretty much it for lift spindles unless you find used fabtech ones.
then a set of fabtech/downey/batchracing upper arms and low profile bump stops. next would be to either crank your stockers or buy some sway a way torsions.
if you did all of this you could get about 5-6'' of lift and still have a good amount of suspension travel before you would be drooped out completely and ridding on the bump stops.
for the rear, either the lift shackles that were posted above or an add a leaf. deaver springs used to make (and still might) a 3 leaf set that lifted about 1.5'' and made my truck ride like a cadillac when i took out the overload leaf. if you do all of this you can probably run 30's or maybe even 31's and have minimal rubbing.

Although you said you didn't want one you could fit 33's if you added a 3" body lift to the stuff Robert recomended. The only problems with body lifts is the center of gravity change and the cab sheer issues. But if you aren't going to pound on it and are going for show over go, it would'nt be a problem.:waytogo:

Also the best cheapest place to find used offroad parts is http://www.race-dezert.com/cgi-bin/trader/atl.cgi because a large amount of people that want to build prerunners will bite off more than they can chew and will part out thier trucks before finishing them. Set a small goal with your prerunner. They are almost the most expensive automotive toys to build.:waytogo:
