I just got a new 12v led license plate light and before I start cutting, I want to know how to do it correctly. Thanks for the help. I have a 95' Toyota pickup.
Hey nice light. I used to have one exactly like that one. And then I stated getting pulled over a lot because they are too bright and they shine backwards. Highway patrol officers always got me for it. So I put in a different light and haven't been pulled over since. Even a city cop pulled me over and told me that it's an easy catch. I don't mean to burst your bubble but I had bad luck with that light.
Paint the lens black to sheild light from shining straight back... That's what i'd do. Should b a simple install... one + one - wire.
Agreed. Tape off the part you don't want covered, scuff up the rest with sand paper and us a good plastic-specific spray paint so the light doesn't shine back. Another thing you may want to consider is to get an adapter that plugs into your existing socket like the stock light bulb would. That way you can attach the light without cutting up the stock wiring harness. Wanna change lights or go back to stock? Its just a simple plug in.
