So walked out from work today, in the mid to high 70's and notice two drops of oil on the ground. Looking at it seems there is a seal where the drive shaft bolts up to to the trans. The trans is covered in caked oil, whats the deal?
output shaft seal maybe... is the oil coming out of the black colar at the very end of the transmission? if so there is a seal in there. Just pull out the drive line, and with a screw driver pop the seal out, and then with a hammer and a large socket you can gently hammer the seal back in. The seal should only be a few bucks from your local parts store. Good luck
The black collar can be sliiped off, if your having trouble removing the seal. To reinstall the collar just use a rubber mallet.
I assume removing the seal would cause the transmission fluid to drain? hence I'll need to get more huh?
