Is this worth the money? Been looking around and not found to much about it. http://www.toyotacatalog.net/M1WebG...UniqueID=B7E7894D-0947-4127-86C1-524D9C95AE6E
Looks like something for a forced induction maybe?.?. I wouldnt think you would need that for a computer controlled setup. I know with a turbocharged engine you have to run more "rich" under boost than when you are not. But I wouldn't think you could control it quick enough through a box you operate manually. I would think that should be left to a management system via electronic or vacum. But, It may be for something totally different. I dunno
Before you read this: I haven't used their stuff, I'm only going from my knowledge of cars, electronics, and their vague-as-heck descriptions and pictures. What that looks like (and price agrees) is a fancy variable resister to bring up/pull down the voltage coming from the AFM. Basically it'll tell the ECU there's more or less air going into the engine than there really is. During closed loop fuel trims will correct it back to 14.7 so it won't change much most of the time except idle, WOT, limp-mode. It will adjust over the entire curve, not particular areas (as needed by forced induction). It will also not deal with the problem of maxing out the AFM with high power/forced induction. Their "mixture meter kit" is just a narrowband (and the one pictured is a 1 wire NON-heated, not sure how accurate the pic is tho) O2 sensor with a gauge. Is it worth it? what are you trying to do? Personally I don't think so but I'm all for building my own stuff from bare components. You can find directions online to make an A/F LED gauge for 15 bucks that you can wire into your existing O2 sensor. then put a $5 multi-turn pot on the AFM to enrich/lean things out. Keeping that in mind, I would not have a problem buying stuff from there, they seem to have a LOT of good stuff. Just not the electronics/EFI tuning stuff.
I have LCE stuff on my truck, and more waiting to be put on, for the price is it worth it... NO!! But factor in all the R&D they did on these motors prior to mass producing parts, and it helps ease that big horse pill of a bill. I think LCE makes good parts, but at high prices. It really just goes along with the old saying; "You pay to play"
