i was thinking about swapping my hubs out with the 89-95 hub so i dont have to run such a big spacer for my wheels. does anyone have any info on this? if i do it i will do a full write up if there isnt one already
yea...... been there tried that what you could try is instead of running a two piece style spacer, you could get the longer wheel studs they use for offroad and race vehicles that require different setup on wheels...... i forget who makes them but you could go longer wheel studs then use just a plain spacer and sandwich the spacer and wheel with the same lugs and nuts. this would be a better option but wheel spacers are not really an issue unless you leave them loose or not torqued properly. keep em on there nice and tight and check them once in a while and you will be fine.
if theyre the same hub, how come my infinity wheels sit so far off? we put them up to my buddy's hub on his 92 and they sat way closer. SD, you mean it should go: hub, lugnut, spacer, wheel, all on a longer stud right?
shouldnt the lugnut go after the spacer and wheel? and did you forget how much you flared your fenders? your buddies 92 probably still has flat fenders. just run some spacers. paint them black so they blend into the wheel a little better. maybe paint the rotor/hub too since the rim is somewhat open looking.
i feel really stupid. you were right macrib. i must have had the wheel caught on something. its a 1/4" away but i doo need longer studs. i think i might still go with a bigger one though because it rubs on my upper control arm and a zerc fitting on my upper ball joint. at least 1/2". thanks for the help
when your looking at your clearance is your truck jacked up and supported under the lower control arm or the frame it makes a differance if the control arm is hanging your wheels will run into your upper balljoint but if you have the weight of the truck being supported under the control arm as if its setting at ride hight but jacked up you can see what your true clearance issues are I hope that makes sents to you when I put my 16"s on I thought they had to much nagitive offset because they hit the balljoints but once I put the jack under the control arm and cycled the front suspenstion I realized I was smoking crack
exactly. the position the upper arm is in makes a difference. i had a set of wheels that wouldnt have fit at stock height, but as low as i am, the upper arm is angled way up from the frame and they cleared. lol
the wheels will clear with just a 1/4" spacer, but if i jack the front up, im worried that i'll snap my zerc fittings
